Changes at the museum

We may be in the middle of a pandemic, but here at the museum we have decided to look on this as an opportunity to rethink what we do and how we do it. There will be two Flintham museums in future - a physical museum and a digital museum.

The physical museum will be open by appointment as soon as the current lockdown allows. Appointments can be made for any day and time to suit you and the volunteer curator. The regular Sunday afternoon openings will be abandoned, although if you want to make an appointment for a Sunday afternoon that's fine. The number in your group will be subject to the current Coronavirus guidelines in place at the time of your intended visit. There will be a charge of £5 per person, with children under 16 free of charge, but the visit will include more than the museum. Subject to the weather you will be able to enjoy a conducted walk to see where the village shop used to be, and visit a rare mud dovecote hidden away in a back garden. There will also be outside activities available in the meadow at the side of the museum. If you would like to arrange a visit, once restrictions allow, please send an email to the museum.

The virtual museum is currently non-existent! But what an opportunity we have to use our collection differently and imaginatively, and to reach new audiences. However, we currently don't have the requisite skills to do very much at all, so we have enrolled on a programme to learn new ways or working. Watch this space.
